"We need to participate for the common good. Sometimes we hear: a good Catholic is not interested in politics. This is not true: good Catholics immerse themselves in politics by offering the best of themselves so that the leader can govern."
- Pope Francis, 9/16/13
GRIEVING ON MOTHER'S DAY
Although many people view Mother’s Day as a reason to celebrate, it can bring up sad or painful feelings for others. Many people have issues with their mom while others may have lost their mom. But no matter the reason, no matter if the loss happened recently or many years ago, there is nothing wrong with you. If the idea of Mother’s Day upsets you, then please know that your feelings are normal and natural. You are not alone, and your feelings are your feelings. Embrace them and forgive.
Imagine not feeling pain, anger, or sadness every single time you think about your mom. Wouldn’t that be freeing? You don’t have to live that way.

The San Joaquin County Public Health Services provided us with the opportunity to be a recipient of a grant for this brand new program,
A Matter of Balance. This is an evidence-based program designed to help people manage concerns about falls and to increase physical activity.
After the initial notice in the Church bulletin of our sponsoring this class, the response was so great we needed to create a waiting list that will lead to our scheduling of an additional class and waiting list. SJCPH has offered to train and certify Katherine Andrews, myself, and Nancy Gomez (for a workshop in Spanish) as coaches of this program. Good news to our parishioners is, as a result we will be able to schedule more classes in the future. Watch for the future notification of this class being offered again. We could not do this without your participation.
