See, your king shall come to you; a just savior is he, meek, and riding on an ass, on a colt, the foal of an ass. - Zechariah 9:9
The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and of great kindness. - Psalm 145:8
. . . you are in the spirit, if only the Spirit of God dwells in you. - Romans 8:9
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy and my burden light. - Matthew 11:29-30
We do not usually speak of meekness or humility in our world today. They seem to be archaic words expressing archaic notions, things not necessarily suited to modernity. Yet they are timeless. Confucius states that “Humility is the solid foundation of all virtues” and St. Augustine notes that “Humility is the foundation of all the other virtues hence, in the soul in which this virtue does not exist there cannot be any other virtue except in mere appearance.” Webster defines meek as “enduring injury with patience and without resentment.” He defines humble as “not proud or haughty, not arrogant; reflecting, expressing, or offered in a spirit of deference or submission.” God, who is all powerful, lets go of everything and becomes like us in every way, but sin. St. Paul exhorts us to “Have. . . the same attitude that is also yours in Christ Jesus, Who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God something to be grasped. . . .Rather, he emptied himself. . . he humbled himself, becoming obedient to death, even to death on a cross” (Philippians 2:5-8). Meekness and humility let go of power, control, authority, strength, possessiveness. Jesus tells us that he is “meek and humble of heart.” If we come to Jesus, take up his yoke, and learn from him, we will find rest.
AN ACT OF SPIRITUAL COMMUNION
My Jesus, I believe that You are in the Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I long for You in my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. As though You have already come, I embrace You and unite myself entirely to You; never permit me to be separated from You.
Sincerely, Fr. Mark

Stewardship ReflEctions
From our Stewardship Council
14th Sunday of Ordinary Time “For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.”Matthew 11:30
When we think of being good stewards, we may think that God is asking too much of us when He calls us to generously share our time, talent and treasure. However, we must remember that we are not “owners” of anything, we are merely “stewards” of the gifts God has given us. All He is asking is that we give back a small portion, in gratitude, of what He has already given to us.

Sharing the Gospel: When you are tired and upset, go to God. Talk things over with him. Tell him the whole story. God is a good listener. He has a gentle heart. He will say to you, "I love you. I forgive you." Then snuggle up with your favorite blanket and take a nap. When you wake up, you will feel much better. Then you will share your love by saying, "May I help you?"
Prayer: Lord Jesus, fill me with love for my family, friends, and neighbors.
Something to Draw: Draw God holding you on his lap while sitting in your favorite rocking chair.
Mission for the Week: I will tell God when I am tired and upset. He will calm me.
Even if one cannot sacramentally receive the Eucharist, everyone should be aware of the practice of making a spiritual communion. The following is a daily prayer for Spiritual Communion:
O my Jesus, I believe that You are in the Blessed Sacrament. I love you above all things, and I desire to receive you into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace you as if you were already there and unite myself wholly to you. Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen.

saINT OF THE wEEK
Carlo Acutis
May 3, 1991- October 12, 2006 Declared Venerable July 5, 2018
Venerable Carlo Acutis was a tech-savvy teenager, known for his love for others and his devotion to the Eucharist. He used his talents to build a website to share information about known Eucharistic miracles, and created videos sharing aspects of the Catholic faith with his internet audience. His faith extended beyond the internet as well, and he was known to befriend the poor, homeless, and migrant populations on the streets of his native city of Milan. In 2006, he died of leukemia at the age of 15. He was declared Venerable by Pope Francis in 2018. His cause for sainthood is ongoing.
Pope Francis used the example of Carlo’s life in his recent apostolic exhortation, Christus Vivit: “Carlo was well aware that the whole apparatus of communications, advertising and social networking can be used to lull us, to make us addicted to consumerism and buying the latest thing on the market, obsessed with our free time, caught up in negativity. Yet he knew how to use the new communications technology to transmit the Gospel, to communicate values and beauty.” – Pope Francis, Christus Vivit 105
– Papa Francisco, Christus Vivit 105
Due to the state-wide stay-at-home orders from the California Governor, all events have been suspended.
