MEssage from our Ministers

The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ
. . . not by bread alone does one live. . . . - Deuteronomy 8:3

. . . with the best of wheat he fills you. - Psalm 147:14

. . . we, though many, are one body, for we all partake of the one loaf. - 1 Corinthians 10:17

This the truth each Christian learns,
bread into his flesh he turns,
to his precious blood the wine.
- Sequence for the Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi), St. Thomas Aquinas

Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him. - John 6:56

“The Eucharist is ‘the source and summit of the Christian life’” (Lumen Gentium 11, Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1324). Another translation is “fount and apex of the whole Christian life.”

As we cannot live without physical nourishment, neither can we live without spiritual nourishment. As we need to eat well-balanced meals, exercise, and get enough rest to have a healthy physical life, so we need to participate in the sacraments, pray, respond to God’s grace, practice the virtues, engage in spiritual reading, etc. to have a healthy spiritual life.

Though the pandemic has changed our lives, we are not defined by our limits alone. For today let us spend some time reflecting on how the Eucharist is the “source and summit” of our lives. If it is not, let us ask God to help us move toward that reality.

El Santísimo Cuerpo y Sangre de Cristo

AN ACT OF SPIRITUAL COMMUNION

My Jesus, I believe that You are in the Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I long for You in my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. As though You have already come, I embrace You and unite myself entirely to You; never permit me to be separated from You.

Sincerely,
Fr. Mark

Stewardship ReflEctions

From our Stewardship Council

Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi)
“Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread.”  1 CORINTHIANS 10:17

As disciples of Jesus, we are called to lead holy lives and invite others to join us. Living a stewardship lifestyle, being grateful and generous with our gifts, serves a twofold purpose. One, it helps build God’s kingdom here on earth. Two, it helps us strengthen each other’s relationship with God the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. It becomes our road map to Heaven. Let’s help each other get there!

Children's PRayer

From our Minister of religious Education

Sharing the Gospel:
When God's people were in the desert with Moses, they got hungry. So, God gave them sweet manna from heaven every morning. It was all they needed to live. God sent Jesus to us from heaven, too, but he's much better than manna. Through Jesus, we can live forever with God.

Prayer:
God, thank you for sending Jesus from heaven.

Something to Draw:
Draw a picture of manna falling from the sky.

Mission for the Week:
Every morning when you eat breakfast, spend time with Jesus. Trust God to give you all that you need.

Spiritual Communion
Even if one cannot sacramentally receive the Eucharist, everyone should be aware of the practice of making a spiritual communion. The following is a daily prayer for Spiritual Communion:

O my Jesus, I believe that You are in the Blessed Sacrament.
I love you above all things, and I desire to receive you into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment receive you sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace you as if you were already there and
unite myself wholly to you.
Never permit me to be separated from you.
Amen.

saINT OF THE wEEK

St. Emily de Vialar

1797-1856
Feast Day - June 17

Emily was the only daughter of a French baron. At 15 she left school in Paris to become her widowed father’s companion in Gaillac. Despite his wishes, Emily would not marry, and for 15 years tended neglected children and the poor. In 1832, when her maternal grandfather left her a fortune, she bought a large house in Gaillac, which became the first home of the Congregation of Sisters of St. Joseph of the Apparition. In 1835, the order won approval and Emily and 17 other sisters professed vows. Their charisms were care of the needy and education. Emily oversaw the formation of 40 houses, before dying from complications of a hernia she’d gotten in her youth while doing a good deed.
