MEssage from our Ministers27th Sunday in Ordinary Time
It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a suitable partner for him. - Genesis 2:18
Blessed are you who fear the Lord, who walk in his ways! - Psalm 128:1 . . . for whom and through whom all things exist. . . . - Hebrews 2:10 Amen, I say to you, whoever does not accept the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it. - Mark 10:15 We are created in God’s image and likeness (Genesis 1:27). St. Augustine writes that “We are made for you, O God, and our hearts are restless until they rest in you.” We are made for God and our relationship with God is paramount. Elizabeth Nagel writes that man and woman’s “mutual commitment in marriage also has the potential to reveal God’s patient longing and determination to live in union with—to make a life together with—humankind.” We ponder our relationship with God and what we can do to nurture and nourish that relationship. Do we ever think about how amazing it is that God desires a relationship with us? Let us reflect on God’s initiative in loving us and drawing us into relationship, into the kingdom of God.
AN ACT OF SPIRITUAL COMMUNION My Jesus, I believe that You are in the Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I long for You in my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. As though You have already come, I embrace You and unite myself entirely to You; never permit me to be separated from You. Sincerely, Fr. Mark PUBLIC CELEBRATION OF MASS - COVID-19

Gospel Meditation
God is Madly in Love with Us In today’s Mass, we listen to several of my favorite Bible passages which describe the amazing power of God’s love. God is so madly in love with us that he wanted to come down from heaven and join our human family. In the second reading from the Letter to the Hebrews, we hear these astonishing words: “For a little while was made lower than the angels." God had to humble himself in order to become a man because human beings are much lower and more ignorant than the angels. Even the angels in the lowest angelic choirs are a thousand times smarter than any human being. Human beings are like pets in comparison to the intelligence of an angel. Then the Letter to the Hebrews explains that Jesus was not embarrassed by becoming one of us: “he is not ashamed to call them ‘brothers.’” These amazing scripture passages show us that God is so totally in love with us that he was willing to do something crazy. He was not too embarrassed. Someone who is in love is never embarrassed to be seen with the one he loves. That is how much God loves us poor, earthly creatures. Some people say that human beings are nothing more than the product of an evolutionary process. But the Bible says that God loves us so much that he condescended to become one of us so that he could live with us and suffer with us and even die for us: “He suffered death, he who for a little while was made lower than the angels, that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.” (Hebrews 2:9) He wanted to show his love by suffering and by becoming our leader in salvation “bringing many children to glory… therefore, he is not ashamed to call them ‘brothers.’” (Hebrews 2:11) The other readings that we hear today describe the very earthy and humble condition of human beings who survive by procreating. (Genesis 2:18-24, Psalm 128:3 and Mark 10:1-16) We live in the flesh and we have bodily needs and emotions which are only satisfied by mutually supporting each other in marriage and in childrearing. We suffer when we experience the pains of childbirth, and the painful separations caused by divorce and death. The angels have no need for these fleshly things. The demons despise and ridicule these things as somehow degrading. But in today’s Gospel, we see that Jesus raises up, exonerates the dignity of marriage and family life. In the Gospel of Mark Jesus clearly condemns divorce and then shows his love for the fruit of marriage by embracing the little children (Matthew 10:2-16). God has come down from his lofty throne above the angels to validate and vindicate our humanity and our sexuality! He even shows himself to be the bridegroom who has come to give us the new wine of his love, to suffer for his bride, the Church, and to consummate the marriage on the bed of the cross (Cf. John 2 and John 22, the only two places in John’s Gospel where the nuptial themes are mentioned: wine, marriage, consummation, and “the woman”). Christ the bridegroom of the Church is not ashamed to associate with us, and to unite his flesh to ours as one body in the Church! Eternally, at the heavenly wedding feast, we will thank him for raising us above the angels his children, his heirs, heirs of God, and co-heirs in Christ! (Romans 8:17) October is the month of the rosary. Let’s use our rosaries to meditate on all of these wonderful mysteries! No estaba demasiado avergonzado. PrayerspRAYER FOR THE sICK

1811-1849
Feast Day: October 6 Eulalie Durocher was the youngest of 10 children in a pious Quebec family; three brothers became priests and two sisters also became nuns. Because of ill health, Eulalie attended school sporadically and was rejected by several religious orders. For 12 years, she helped one of her priest-brothers in his parish, organizing charitable works and the first Confraternity of Mary in Canada. In 1843, with two friends and episcopal permission, she founded the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary to educate poor youths, especially in the countryside. As Mother Marie-Rose, she led the congregation until her early death; she was beatified in 1982. Holy Names’ sisters serve today in Canada, the United States, Lesotho, Peru, and Brazil.
