MEssage from our MinistersTwenty-Ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time
I have called you by your name. . . . I am the Lord and there is no other, there is no God besides me. - Isaiah 45:5
For great is the Lord and highly to be praised; awesome is he, beyond all gods. - Psalm 96:4 We give thanks to God always for all of you, remembering you in our prayers. . . . - 1 Thessalonians 1:2 Then repay to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to God. - Matthew 22:21 Today’s readings point to the pre-eminence of God in our lives. As Hildegard of Bingen notes, “God is the foundation for everything.” If God is at the center, then all things fall into place: God first and everything else following. God invites us into an ongoing and ever-deepening relationship. Let us accept God’s invitation, praise God, give thanks to God, and so order our lives that we will in word and in deed “render to God all that belongs to God” (Matthew 22:21). Then by our words and actions we will bear witness that God is indeed the foundation of our lives. Vigésimo Noveno Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario
"te he llamado por tu nombre" Isaías, 45 - Bíblia Católica Online. . . I Tesalonicenses, 1 - Bíblia Católica Online "21.Dícenle: «Del César.» AN ACT OF SPIRITUAL COMMUNION My Jesus, I believe that You are in the Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I long for You in my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. As though You have already come, I embrace You and unite myself entirely to You; never permit me to be separated from You. Sincerely, Fr. Mark PUBLIC CELEBRATION OF MASS - COVID-19

During this time of pandemic, the Church of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary is implementing all the safety procedures that are required, as well as many additional precautions that are recommended for the safety of our community members. These include cleaning, disinfecting, and the use of masks, thermometers, and proper social distancing. We gather contact information of everyone who attends all Masses, just in case we have to call everyone who attended a particular Mass. This has happened two times in recent weeks. We had to notify everyone who attended two of our Masses here at Presentation, because we later learned that those two Masses had been attended by someone who later tested positive for coronavirus. In both cases, the person attending the Mass did not have any symptoms while attending the Mass, practiced social distancing while attending the Mass, and had conformed to the all established protocols of the parish. They assured us that they did not come in close contact with others at the Mass. Nevertheless, a parish staff member notified each of those who had attended those Masses, just to inform them that they should be alert for symptoms. We also called them again two weeks later in an effort to make sure that our safety protocols at Mass were effective and that no one became infected by attending either of the Masses. One of these Masses was a Confirmation Mass celebrated on June 29 for our parish school families, and the other was our 5:00 p.m. Mass on July 5. We are providing this information so that everyone can make informed decisions about whether they wish to attend our Masses during the pandemic. If anyone tests positive for coronavirus, please notify the parish right away (209-472-2150) so that we can notify those who were present at the Mass or service you attended. The information received will be handled in a confidential manner. Al 19 de JuLio de 2020PrayerspRAYER FOR THE sICK

29th Sunday of Ordinary Time “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s and to God the things that are God’s.” - Matthew 22:21 Everything we are and everything we have belongs to God. We aren’t “owners” of anything, we are merely “stewards” of the gifts God has given each of us. All God is asking is that we give back a portion of what He gave us. This is the essence of Stewardship. God should be our first priority in everything. All else comes second, especially our money.
Feast Day: October 3rd
This Italian studied law in Perugia, where he married the daughter of a leading family and became governor of the city in 1412. Imprisoned during a civil war, he had a vision of St. Francis, followed by a spiritual conversion. Dispensed from his marriage vows, John joined the Friars Minor in 1416 and was ordained four years later. Going barefoot and wearing a hair shirt, he became a great preacher, worked diligently to reform the Franciscan orders, served as the friars’ vicar general and was named papal legate in a number of places in Europe and Palestine. He also led a wing of the Christian army in a victory against the Turks who besieged Belgrade in 1456. John is the patron of jurists and military chaplains. A Message from Fr. Mark: Our October SAINT OF THE MONTH is St. Francis of Assisi. There are several beautiful videos about St. Francis in Formed.org (FREE for our parishioners). Hello, parents of our children’s catechism program (Family of Faith). On the website Formed.org there are several films and documentaries about St. Francis of Assisi (our saint of the month for October), including a cartoon version for children! Watching this together can be part of your children’s catechism for this year! But before watching the cartoon on with your children, you may want to watch their documentary so that you can have an understanding and be able to explain it to your children. My favorite full-length film about St. Francis is unfortunately not available to us for free on Formed.org. It is the 1989 film with Mickey Rourke as St. Francis. I prefer this film because it realistically shows the hardships of the life of poverty embraced by St. Francis (Zeffirelli’s 1972 film is too flowery and fanciful!) Fr. Mark There are 3 easy steps for new parishioners to Sign Up on FORMED:

Available on FORMED.ORG Movie: A Sign of Contradiction http://watch.formed.org/videos/st-francis-of-assisi-sign-of-contradiction Cartoon: The Knight of Assisi http://watch.formed.org/videos/francis-the-knight-of-assisi Available on YouTube (Rent or Buy) Movie: Francesco https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gboS5nyNajQ Francesco is a 1989 docu-drama relating in flashback St. Francis of Assisi's evolution from rich man's son to religious humanitarian and finally to a full-fledged saint. The film was based on Hermann Hesse's Francis of Assisi, which director Liliana Cavani had previously filmed in 1966. It was shot in the Italian region of Abruzzo and it stars Mickey Rourke and Helena Bonham Carter. Greek composer, Vangelis, provided the musical score. |
